No officer, agent or employee of the city shall be personally liable for any damage incurred or alleged to be incurred as a result of any act required, permitted or authorized to be done or performed in the discharge of his duties pursuant to this article. Any suit brought against any officer, agent or employee of the city as a result of any act required, permitted or authorized in the discharge of his duties under this article shall be deemed an action against the city and shall be defended by the city attorney.
