Please join Councilmember McShane and the leadership behind your city including the City Manager, Police Chief and City Economic Development Director in a discussion on important topics facing our community. Please join Councilmember McShane and the leadership from Monterey Park Neighborhood Watch, Maple Park & surrounding neighborhoods for an important update on the state of our city. Neighbors will be invited to discuss up to date progress on both traffic calming and the permitted parking programs surrounding SVMH. BFI's Annual Fall City-wide Clean Up

The November Fall clean up will be held Saturday, November 30^th from 8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. The event is free to Salinas residents. BFI will take bulky items (refrigerators, mattresses, washers), household trash, yard-waste, clean cardboard, plastic, wood and electronic waste (computers, TV's, monitors) at one of these locations:

Constitution Soccer Complex Parking Lot - 1440 Constitution Blvd.
Maintenance Services Yard - 426 Work St.
Salinas Airport - Mecer Way and Anderson Ave. off of Airport Blvd

Fire Prevention Week will be held from October 3-9, 2010. The Salinas Fire Department reminds local residents that smoke alarms saves lives and need to be installed and maintained in every home. Having working smoke alarms can cut the chances of dying in a fire in half. In recognition of Fire Prevention Week the Salinas FD will hold an Open House on October 9, 2010, 9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., at each of the six fire stations in the City. The entire community is invited to tour one of their nearby firehouses, and learn more about fire safety. The Open House is free for the entire family. For more information call 758-7261. The Salinas Animal Shelter is celebrating 10 years on Hitchcock Road. Join us Saturday, August 14^th from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. for fun, food and furry friends!

To enter our Coloring Contest for the 10-year Anniversary, please download and print the Pets Coloring page and bring to the Anniversary Party or send it to 222 Lincoln Ave., Salinas, CA 93901 before August 14^th. The winner to be selected on day of the event and you do not need to be present to win. Good luck!
