The City of Salinas has adopted, and is currently using, the 1998 edition of the California Building, Plumbing, Mechanical, and Electrical Codes. These codes are are available from the International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO) . The 1998 edition of the California Codes were adopted by the City of Salinas on July 1, 1999. This will be the last codes promulgated by ICBO. The year 2000 building code will be the next code edition published. It will be produced by the International Code Council (ICC), and is intended to be the building code for the entire United States.

It is our desire that design professionals will benefit from this guide. By listing some of the more common requirements, we hope the guide will help you to better prepare for your next plan submittal and review process.
