Matt N. Pressey, Budget & Finance Director
Matt began as Finance Director for the City of Salinas in April 2011. The Finance Department provides management, control and administration of all fiscal operations of the City of Salinas and Salinas Redevelopment Agency. The Finance Director supports the City Manager in budget development and determining long range financial planning.
Mr. Pressey has twenty two years of municipal finance experience. He began his career in 1989 working for a Public Accounting firm that specialized in local government auditing, accounting and consulting services, where he worked for eight and a half years. He then worked for the cities of Pasadena, Costa Mesa and Lake Elsinore, the Rancho California Water District and the San Diego Association of Governments in a manager or director capacity.
He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Economics with emphasis in Accounting from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Mr. Pressey has been an active member of the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers and the national Government Finance Officers Association.
Mr. Pressey lives in the City of Salinas with his wife and seven children.
