Spring is here meaning the Weed Abatement Program is in full swing! Code Enforcement would like to remind the public the importance of keeping properties free of overgrown weeds and vegetation. Overgrowth of over 6 inches in height are considered to be a fire hazard.

Citations, escalating up to $2,500, may be issued if a property is found to be in violation. If property owners fail to comply, the City will send an abatement contractor to remove the weeds. The property owner will then be charged the cost of work, a 25% administrative fee, and a lien will be placed against the property until payment is made. To avoid the penalties, property owners should consistently maintain weeds. Help reduce the risk of a fire, report overgrown weeds here.
