With the Senior Center at the Firehouse closed due to the COVID-19 crisis, Recreation staff have modified its senior lunch program by establishing a drive-thru service. Seniors make an appointment to receive the meals, and stay in the safety of their cars while it is delivered. "The seniors are happy to see the familiar faces of our staff, and to get a nutritious meal for the day," says Vivian Salinas, Community Services Manager.

The Recreation and Community Services Division has partnered for several years now with the Alliance on Aging and the Alisal Union School District to provide nutritious meals for seniors ages 60 & over. Lunches are distributed on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  The Firehouse Recreation Center is located at 1330 East Alisal Street.

Regular lunch service will resume once it is safe and the Monterey County Health Officer has given new guidelines for gatherings.  The program has the capacity to accept more seniors, and welcomes calls from the community.  For more information or to register, please call (831) 775-4232.
